We recognize that recent ICE activity in our neighborhood has caused fear, uncertainty, and disruption in our community. This safety plan exists to help reduce risk, increase communication, and ensure that students and staff feel supported when deciding whether to come to class. Our goal is not to create alarm, but to be transparent, prepared, and responsive — centering community care during a time that is not business as usual.
This plan will adapt and be updated as needed.
ICE Safety Plan
(Updated January 21st, 2026)
The safety of our students, staff, and community is our top priority. Below are the measures we have in place to help ensure everyone feels as safe and supported as possible when attending classes at The Rose Academy.
Building Access & Security:
The main door to the building remains locked at all times
Students may use the buzzer to be let in and will be admitted by staff.
Classroom doors remain locked during class hours.
Free safety whistles and informational resources are available at the studio.
Emergency Preparedness
Emergency contact information is collected for all students
Moving forward, this will be collected at the time of registration
An evacuation plan is in place and instructors will be briefed on procedures.
Communication & Class Updates
Instructors will create a class group chat on the first day of class.
This will be used for check-ins before weekly classes if anyone is feeling unsafe attending.
If a class needs to be canceled, communication will be sent via:
Message in the group chat
Email
Text message
Studio Escorts
We are organizing volunteer studio escorts, particularly for the first two weeks of classes.
Escorts would be present before and after classes to help ensure safe arrivals and departures.
Escorts may not be needed long-term, but additional presence during this period is helpful.
If you or someone you know is interested in volunteering as a studio escort, please fill out the form here:

If you need help getting to or from class:

We will reach out as needed to coordinate rides.
If You’re Feeling Unsafe
If at any point you do not feel safe coming to class, please email Deeva to talk through your options. These may include:
Reimbursement
Moving your enrollment to a future class
Or another solution we can figure out together
Your safety and well-being matter more than attendance.
